Reptile Water & Food Dishes

Reptile Water and Food Dish products.

Whether you are human or an animal, water is essential for life. You can always get away with missing a few days of food, but any creature must have water to survive. So here at reptile pet supplies we understand how important it is that your reptile is going to need both water and food dishes and for this reason we tell all customers that these two items really are a must.

Depending on what you will feed your reptile, you may not need the food dish every day. Some reptiles eat live food like crickets, which hardly stay in their food dishes. Of course, there are days where you might give your reptile dried or canned food in place of live food. So never discount the fact that a food dish will be just as handy as the water dish.

There are two types of reptile food dishes and reptile water dishes. You have the plastic or resin style dish. We will take a look at both options here to help you decide what might be right for your pet reptile. We will also be looking at other water and food accessories you might like to have.

Plastic reptile food and water dishes are typically what most pet owners begin with when they have a pet reptile. This is because plastic is a little less expensive than other options, though it is not always the case. The other reason for choosing plastic is because it is light weight and hygienic. The plastic water and food dishes you can obtain are non porous, which means they are very easy to clean and re-sterilise.

With the many options you have for reptile food dishes you might decide to have a different food dish than your reptile water dish. You can also have two of the same style dishes. One water and food dish is the arboreal lagoon. This style dish can be fitted for tree living reptiles. Thus it can be set above ground. You have ramp bowls which allow easier access to the water and food. There are also water and food dishes which look like rocks. These styles of bowls blend into the surroundings, making them look more natural for your reptile. They come in a variety of shapes so you can put them in a corner, out in the open, or anywhere else in your vivarium.

Plastic reptile food and water dishes provide you with the option of something a little deeper to hold more food and water or a more shallow design. You want to have a design that will work best for your reptile. This means you should probably go with a deeper water dish to ensure your pet reptile has enough water throughout the day.

When living in a warmer climate it is much easier to run out of water. Humidity may allow moisture in the air, but often times the heat will help evaporate the water in a reptile water dish. For the reptile food dish if you feed them mostly live food a shallower construction might be best. Resin reptile food and water dishes allow for something slightly different than plastic.
