When it comes to ceramic reptile heating products we have a great range below.
Your reptile requires a regulation of temperature to stay warm, content, and happy. In a terrarium your pet reptile is dependent on you and how you regulate the inside terrarium temperature. Most reptiles also require that you regulate day and night, especially if you keep them in a windowless room. Ceramic reptile heaters come in a variety of styles. Depending on your needs you may find the heat wave lamp is preferable to other options.
We will be looking at more than just the heat wave below. First, the heat wave lamp is circular to provide a “sun” like appearance. This ceramic style heater is specific for heating an area where your reptile may bask. It has a uniform pattern and offers infrared heat. It will warm your reptile quite efficiently. It will increase the ambient temperature of your terrarium, as well. If you use the ceramic reptile heater lamp make sure your other heat source like the heat mat is turned down slightly to avoid rising the ambient temperature too much during the basking hours.
Infrared heaters, whether ceramic or another style, will penetrate the skin and scales to warm the reptile. It helps keep your pet reptile healthy because they increase the blood flow through your reptile by widening the blood vessels. The range of the heat lamps is 40 to 250 watts, depending on the size. A small heat lamp at 40 watts is great for a small terrarium.
As mentioned there are more ceramic heaters than the wave heat lamp. You also have a Dark Spot heat emitter ceramic heater. This type of heater like the lamp will create a hot spot inside the terrarium for reptile basking. It also provides a recreation of natural conditions that the reptile is used to. The dark spot ceramic heater can work up to 8000 hours from most manufacturers. You should always have the light 40cm or more away from the reptiles to avoid causing too much heat in that area. The ceramic heater of this style has a heater guard to keep the reptile from touching the actual light bulb. Many also have a yellow to orange to red colour variation to show when the lamp is increasing in temperature or too hot to leave on at the moment.
The last type of reptile ceramic heater you can purchase is the infrared heat emitter. This style of ceramic heater may look like a light bulb, but it emits no light. Instead it offers infrared heat waves that are invisible. The heat waves will heat the reptile penetrating deep into the muscles during the basking process. It is a great 24 hour heat source for tropical and desert reptiles. On average this style of heater will last 5 years or 25,000 hours. It can also be used in high humidity terrariums without issues. Ceramic heaters for reptiles can heat the enclosure in a specific region or work through the entire terrarium. They are great for basking reptiles.
