Reptile Handling Equipment and Products.

Being prepared for your pet reptile’s arrival is important. You will want to have a starter kit for the terrarium or vivarium, as well as food, substrate, water and food dishes, etc. Even if your pet reptile is already in its new home you still might need a few of the reptile handling equipment and products we will be discussing.

There are a number of products to help you and your pet get along well. Under reptile accessories you have the option of purchasing a bug buddy insect catcher. This catcher helps you catch and release the insects you will feed to your snake. Instead of trying to get the crickets, worms, or other food into your hand and into the catch you just have to use this catcher. There is a ring on the edge to hang it near the cage whenever you are ready to use it. The bug catcher helps save you time, also. You will not have to worry about getting the bugs in the cage before you have to leave for work. Instead you can quickly catch the bugs and transfer them to your reptile’s cage.

Reptile hooks are other reptile handling equipment and products you might want to have on hand. Reptile hooks come in a variety of styles from collapsible to pin hooks. For reptiles that might try to escape or can bite, having a reptile hook to handle them is wise. The collapsible hooks can be the length you need them to be in case you need to reach further to get your pet reptile back into the cage after an escape. You may also need the hook for when you clean the cage. Collapsible hooks come in two sizes ranging from 40 to 100cm and 18 to 70cm. The hooks are not going to harm the reptiles since they will allow a snake or lizard to wrap around rather than be skewered by the end of the hook. They are in other words completely safe to use.

If you are not interested in reptile hooks as reptile handling equipment and products you have other options. Tongs can also be used like the hooks. You can gently pick the snake up between the forceps of the tongs. This works perfectly for the more dangerous snakes you might be dealing with. There is a pistol grip for you to hold on to easier. You can safely grab the snake or other reptile behind the head to hold it.

Reptile handling equipment and products also range to gloves. Thick gloves that run up the arms can protect you from snake or reptile bites when you want to hold them. Most of this equipment makes it easier for you to clean the inside of the reptile’s cage each week. They are an essential piece of equipment when you have a pet reptile. It doesn’t matter if you have a dangerous snake or reptile; they come in handy, especially for individuals who may be helping that do not care for reptiles.
