Frozen Fish Food Products.

Providing the correct nutrients to your pet is important. Frozen fish food is typically created for tropical and marine fish. The frozen fish food includes tubifex worms, mosquito larvae, bloodworms, water fleas, and brine shrimp. Frozen fish food does not have to be used only for the different fish. It can also be used to feed your pet reptiles.

Reptiles are omnivores or carnivores. The omnivore reptiles can get plenty of nutrients from frozen fish food. The fish food is high in fat and amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks for protein. This makes the frozen fish food high in protein and thus nutrients. Typically fish food is frozen and then dried. It then creates flakes or pellets for the pet to eat. Frozen fish food does have to be eaten quickly to avoid build up of intestinal gas, infection, or even renal failure. The issues that can happen due to the frozen fish food make it necessary for you to give your pet just enough food at each meal to make them full. You do not want to place too much of the frozen fish food in the tank. Doing so can create more issues if it is not all eaten. Frozen fish food can pollute a tank.

Despite the issues there are with frozen fish food this does not mean it is not a good meal for your pet reptile or your fish. The fact that it contains amino acids makes it a lot like a hard boiled egg. As you may know there are several reptiles that eat eggs of other species. Instead of giving your reptile eggs you can feed them the frozen fish food, giving them the same benefits.

Fats in the food are a good energy source for your reptile. It will help build their heart strength as well as their skin. For snakes this can be essential during the shedding season. Your snake will get rid of the old skin and need to replace it, which frozen fish food can help with.

Frozen fish food also includes carbohydrates. These are sugars, starches, and celluloses. There is a natural amylase within the food that can also increase the energy of your pet reptile and retain important proteins.

Above, a few of the ingredients in frozen fish food were mentioned. There are other options such as fish meal, shrimp meal, squid meal, and soybean meal. In fish meal you have a high protein source. The producers can in two basic types. You have those created from fishery wastes where fish is processed for human consumption. Typically salmon and tuna will be found in this meal. The second is one created from specific fish like herring, menhaden and Pollack. They are harvested specifically for the fish meal. Shrimp meal is processed by freezing whole or part of a shrimp. It is also dried then ground. Much of the fish food is frozen and then dried to keep the most important nutrients in the final product for a healthy pet.
