Natural Reptile Vines & Woods

If you have a desert viviarium or terrarium you will be interested in using natural reptile vines and wood products.  While they will look good in a tropical environment they really are ideal in the desert landscape and bring a calming element to the environment.  Some of the woods that are used in these products are Savannah wood, grapevine, and Mopani.  The natural wood products that this web site offers come in several sizes so you will find one that is perfect for your viviarium or terrarium.  The natural vines and wood products are popular choices from the different types of reptile decoration available and can be combined with other natural substances to make a unique living environment for your pet reptile or amphibian.  You could also use the natural products with the artificial plants, vines and branches if you desire.

The Savannah wood has a dark colour and is very dense in texture.  The wood has been sandblasted to make it smoother.  Since these natural reptile vines and wood products are made by nature you will find many different shapes and configurations.  Because of this you will find they don’t all have the same number of branches or hollowed out places.  Each piece will be unique in its design and your reptile will enjoy any of the shapes.  Larger pieces are available on our web site if you have a large tank for your reptile.  You could add some natural Louisiana moss and ferns to your pet’s tank for a real natural décor.

Grapevine natural branches are a lighter coloured wood and when sandblasted reveal unique details.  They can contain knots, several small branches and cracks.  You could leave it exposed for its beauty and climbing ability or you could decorate it with leafy vines.  When you add leafy vines whether live or artificial you will give your pet reptile or amphibian a place to hide and have some shade.  Either way this is a lovely addition to any viviarium or terrarium.  Aspen bedding makes great flooring in your tank as added decoration.

An excellent source of hiding and climbing is found in the Mopani wood products.  This natural reptile wood product is actually a grapevine root.  Because it is a root it has many small branches and roots shooting off the main branch.  Besides being an excellent decorating piece for your reptile viviarium or terrarium it will allow your reptile the chance to climb or even hide.  Each piece of Mopani wood will have a different appearance and will add an authentic look to your pet’s home.  You could add some trailing plants with medium to large leaves for more hiding places.  Beech chips for the floor add more atmosphere and some ferns will add colour.

If you have a larger reptile that likes to climb you will be interested in the premium grapevine wood branch.  This trunk is thicker and has heavier branches.  Usually this type of wood product has a few more branches than the smaller version.  Add a fiscus plant to the tank for colour and maybe some grass and your reptile will feel at home.
