Reptile Cleaning Equipment and Products.
It does not matter what type of pet you have. There will always be a need to keep their living area clean, their food dish full, and plenty of water available to them. Reptiles are not going to be any different than a cat, dog, or bird. They need a clean enclosure giving them a happy, healthy and long life. As you can imagine for reptiles there is not just one cleaning equipment or product. Instead there are a few brands out there which help you maintain the proper environment. The cleaning equipment and products you can buy will keep your reptiles enclosure properly disinfected without harming them.
The first category under reptile cleaning equipment and products are cleaners and conditioners. Water conditioners are a product that neutralizes chlorine and other chemicals that are found in water. Water can be three things: hard, soft, or drinkable. Your reptile needs to be able to drink their water. While you may think you can clean the cage without adding a water conditioner you do not want your pet reptile to get the wrong minerals or chlorine. Plus you will be putting in drinking water and probably a little pond which needs to be free of chemicals. Your reptile could suffocate or even die from improper water.
In conjunction with the water conditioner you will need to use you have products for cleaning the cage walls. Vetaclean is one option that is sold for pet reptile cleaning products. It is a biocide. You always need to have a biocide whether it is Vetaclean or another company. The biocide is an antimicrobial spectrum which is diluted to help you clean the cage. You will want to use this on the walls of the vivarium, the floor, and on everything you have in the cage. It will kill any microbial organisms that might be spreading in the cage. There is a neutral pH to the chemical which makes it non toxic, non corrosive and non staining.
Reptile cleaning products come in a variety of ways. You can have a liquid that you spread about and then rinse with water, a spray, or even a rub. It will depend on how much work you want to do when cleaning and the type of cage you have. Just remember that you do need to have some type of disinfectant to use in the cage.
Reptile cleaning equipment comes down to reptile sand scoopers. The scoopers make life a little easier when it comes to cleaning out the cage for shed skin, faeces and other debris. By using the sand scooper you will not have to remove the substrate to clean the cage thoroughly every week. You should remove the sand at least once a month or every two weeks to ensure a full cleaning, but for most cleanings the sand scoopers will maintain a clean floor. There are different sizes of sand scoopers to help you with the different substrates you might have. You will want to search for the one that works best.
